One DNA, five bridges
Almelo de Haandrik, The Netherlands
The canal Almelo- de Haandrik has been upgraded: the canal is now accessible for boats up to 700 tons. For this reason five movable bridges have been replaced. The bridges have a modern design and are as such clearly related to each other, whilst also responding to their location.
The Emtenbroekerdijk bridge has an open upper structure and a modern and industrial look, referring to the industrial area located nearby the bridge. The mechanical workings of the bridge are emphasized in an abstract manner.
