One DNA, five bridges
Almelo de Haandrik, The Netherlands

A family of bridges

The canal Almelo- de Haandrik has been upgraded: the canal is now accessible for boats up to 700 tons. For this reason five movable bridges have been replaced. The bridges have a modern design and are as such clearly related to each other, whilst also responding to their location.

The Walker has two elegant balances sustained by an open cantilever column placed on either side of the bridge to ensure a maximum view from adjecent houses on the water.
